Deciding to come into a therapy space is not always easy but it is without a doubt, always courageous. Thinking about your mental health is one thing but acting on it and reaching out shows bravery. So many humans suffer in silence, viewing their current circumstance or feelings as "just the way it is." That simply is not true, you are not a tree; you are not stuck in one place. You do not have to merely survive; it is completely possible to learn skills that will help you learn to love who you are and enjoy moments throughout your day.
From my work experiences across varying groups of people and ages, I like to draw from a person centered, strength-based perspective. This means that I honor who you are, where you have been and what experiences have helped to shape you. I recognize that you are the expert of your life story and together, we will utilize traditional talk therapy to navigate your goals at a pace you are comfortable with. I strive to be an ethical, equitable and culturally sensitive clinician who appreciates diversity in all areas. I use evidence-based practices such as motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral, and dialectical behavioral skills in the way they best fit your current needs.
You finding the right clinician is especially important to me. I truly believe that we heal best when we feel safe. My clients have done their best work on themselves when we have built a trusting and safe relationship. When belonging is felt, it can feel much easier to be vulnerable and share your story.
If you are scared but motivated to examine behavior patterns and do not mind a few bad puns and analogies thrown in here and there during a session, I may be the right clinician for you.
